<i>Reassessing assessment</i>: what can post stroke aphasia assessment learn from research on assessment in education?

Background Assessment is an essential part of aphasia management. There are many tools available for assessment, but relatively scant attention has been paid to how speech pathologists carry out their assessment sessions, or these sessions experienced by people with and families. The evidence that suggests do not always understand the purposes assessments they undertake receive much useful feedback on performance. Connections between adult learning therapy being made more explicit, such as through Life Participation Approach Aphasia, potential a relationship yet fully recognised.Aims This paper aims stimulate thinking improve current practices. It uses lens explores theoretical approaches underpinning in education contexts.Main Contribution In this commentary paper, we summarise current, dominant practices around then briefly review evidence-based recommended practice higher professional education.
